CNN —What is one of the earliest and enduring subjects in art and media — as well as one of the most censored? And these are all themes explored broadly in the exhibition “Breasts,” a robust survey on display at the 60th Venice Bienniale. “It’s very intimate, so it’s perfect for international artists to develop a dialogue with each other,” she said in a video call. “Artists keep going back to it.”“It’s been a wonderful moment to contemplate my own relationship with the meaning of breasts,” she added of the show. But the impression that Simpson’s all-consuming trial had on shaping the modern media environment cannot be overstated. Simpson’s trial gave way to a media landscape dominated by salacious reality television and talking head-driven cable news. It’s difficult to imagine Trump being elected to the White House without the three-legged stool that Simpson’s trial played a crucial role in building. Reality TV had started earlier, but after Simpson there was a massive profusion of ‘Reality TV,’” Socolow said in an email. “That’s how ‘The Apprentice’ gave Donald Trump a comeback in American culture, and he rode his reality TV stardom to the White House.”

Washington DC CNN —The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Monday it has opened an investigation into a recent Ford Mustang Mach-E fatal crash in San Antonio, Texas, where authorities suspect an advanced driver assistance system was in use. Driver assistance features are being hailed by automakers as a way to reduce accidents, but federal safety regulators are concerned that over-reliance on the features by drivers could be causing some accidents. While NHTSA has opened more than three dozen Tesla special crash investigations since 2016 where advanced driver assistance systems such as Autopilot were suspected of being used with 20 crash deaths reported, this is NHTSA’s first special crash probe involving a Ford advanced system. NHTSA typically opens more than 100 special crash investigations annually into emerging technologies and other potential auto safety issues. In addition to the NHTSA probe, on Friday, the National Transportation Safety Board opened a separate investigation into the Feb. 24 crash.

Schaben / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)Taylor Swift endorsed President Joe Biden's winning 2020 campaign — and while she hasn't backed Biden's reelection bid yet, allies of former President Donald Trump are already getting ready for it. Those attacks have ramped up ahead of the Super Bowl, which Swift is expected to try to attend to cheer on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican former presidential candidate who has endorsed Trump, wondered aloud on X whether an "artificially culturally propped-up couple" would endorse Biden after the Super Bowl. Swift was already a mega-celebrity when she endorsed Biden in 2020.

watch nowORLANDO, Fla. — Little is known about how much revenue Shein draws or just how profitable it is. But the fast-fashion company's sales are "a lot more" than the $30 billion it reportedly brings in annually, one of the retailer's key partners said Monday. "There's talks that they do 30 billion, do they do 40 billion? If Shein's sales are "a lot more" than $30 billion annually, its revenue would still be far smaller than that of retail giants such as Walmart and Amazon , which do hundreds of billions in sales annually. A sales total above $30 billion would mean Shein dwarfs American retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle , which most recently reported annual sales of $3.7 billion and $5 billion, respectively.

An Airbnb landlord said a tenant stopped paying rent and battled to make her leave. It took 570 days of legal back-and-forth, roughly $60,000 in unpaid rent, and a police escort before Elizabeth Hirschhorn finally left the property on Friday, Sebastian Rucci, an attorney for Jovanovic, told Insider. Within an hour of watching Hirschhorn drive away, per Rucci's motion to dismiss the eviction suit against Hirschhorn, Jovanovic changed the locks. The Times reported Jovanovic offered to pay for Hirschhorn to stay in a hotel while the repairs were completed, but she declined. Hirschhorn had refused to relocate unless Jovanovic paid her $100,000, the Times reported, citing a settlement offer the outlet reviewed.

The largest desalination plant in the US is in San Diego. AdvertisementAdvertisementIn the early 1990s, San Diego was dying on the vine, starved of water in a series of yearslong droughts. At the last minute, a miracle saved San Diego — rain and snow in the desert replenished aquifers, saving the city from intense cutbacks. With these easier options on the table, it's even more staggering that cities such as San Diego have pushed desalination efforts through.

Minneapolis CNN —Ballpark attendance boomed this summer, Barbenheimer revived the box office and a Renaissance of live performances brought concerts into new Eras. However, it also could mean that holiday spending just might look a little different and skewed more toward experiences than it has done in past years. Respondents to KPMG’s 2023 holiday survey said they plan to spend 5% more this season, said Matt Kramer, KPMG’s consumer and retail national sector leader. “What stands out the most is this ‘leaning in’ to holiday travel and wanting to have those experiences with friends and family,” he said. A more comprehensive look at consumer spending will come at the tail end of the month when the Personal Consumption Expenditures data is released.

Due to be held in Melbourne from February 11 to February 13, 2024, just days before Swift’s “Eras” tour arrives in Australia, the conference is backed by seven universities across Australia and New Zealand. Swift's "Eras" tour has become a cultural phenomenon. Swift’s impact has already proven to be literally Earth-shaking. Fans attending her Seattle “Eras” tour concert at Lumen Field in July caused seismic activity equivalent of a 2.3 magnitude earthquake, according to seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach. New York CNN —For decades, Girl Scouts has used cookie sales to raise funds and teach scouts about entrepreneurship. “Right now we are focused on ensuring all Girl Scouts have a successful Cookie Season,” Girl Scouts USA told CNN in a statement, adding that it is also focused on optimizing its operations “in real-time, and [capturing] learnings that will inform our strategy going into future seasons.”But for the scouts, those learnings have been hard-won. That meant shoppers could order it themselves, though Girl Scouts encouraged them to ask scouts to place the orders. Plus, Girl Scouts built a lot of hype with the limited-time offer, creating a sense of urgency, Esper noted.
